Wash & Go Trials On Coily Hair 7: Keracare Butter cream & Keracare Defining Custard - FAIL

I suppose a wash & go trial with the Keracare butter cream and defining custard was inevitable. It's usually expected for products along the same line to work together. So here it is!

DRY HAIR!! THE WHITE FLECKS DID NOT DISSIPATE!
Those white specks are dried! Dried! :S

Had to head out to the shops, and didn't have time to wash this mess out, so pulled back it into an emergency bun
Looking closely. White flecks still there. This mix was such a FAIL!

I can't get over my hair in the 1st pic! My hair happy looked so good! I could not wait to see how it would dry.  I used Australian Organics conditioner as a light leave- conditioner (I always use a leave-in conditioner. Sorry, I couldn't exclude this.) added the butter cream on top of that to my hair in 4 sections sparingly (even though I know that the defining custard  can be seriously drying). Afterwards went back and applied the defining custard in much smaller sections. Probably 12 overall i.e. each quadrant was divided again into three. I left this to air-dry. I loved the way it dried as the day went by, but the white specks refused to completely disappear. I pressed a towel on the visible white patches, but no change. Diffused on moderate and then cool temperature, I looked about 60 with the white flecks in my hair. I washed it out as soon as I got back home.
Verdict > Keracare defining custard + Keracare Butter Creme = Project Fail!
Click for other past attempts with Keracare defining custard with a only a light leave-in conditioner - TIGI, and then with Hawaiian Silky curl activator .
So far, the best combo with the Keracare Defining custard for me has been to use it with a curl activator.

Wash & Go Trials On Coily Hair 5:Curl Junkie Curl Assurance Smoothing Lotion & Blue Ecostyler Gel.

I wore this wash and go for 3 days. I applied the smoothing lotion immediately after a co-wash in the shower on soaking wet hair which was sectioned into 4 quadrants. The CJ smoothing lotion is a great coil clumper for me and has great slip. I came out of the shower, sectioned the 4 quadrants into a smaller sections then globbed on the gel.  I started from the roots and then smoothed the gel down to the ends. Lightly raked/separated (not pulling down to ends) My coils were popping everywhere and any visible whiteness left by the smoothing lotion dissipated quickly within an hour on the tips! The crown as usual needed a little bit longer. This is a great combo.
For nightly maintenance, I put some butter/oil on the ends and tied up in 3 scrunchies aligned vertically like a mo-hawk. Then put on my shower-bonnet combo. In the morning I removed scrunchies, shook and fluffed.

Wash & Go Trials on Coily Hair 4: Keracare Defining Custard & HSCurlActivator

1ST PART OF REVIEW
Update 2
: HAWAIIAN SILKY CURL ACTIVATOR & KERACARE DEFINING CUSTARD

With a heavier leave-in like the curl activator. My hair swelled up by the end of the day, but still had good definition, it was not overly frizzy. The *shine* was AMAZING and the scent of the custard still marginally present by the end of the day. When it came to bed-time my hair was still damp around the roots as I put my hair in my nightly 3 scrunchies.
The next morning my hair still felt quite damp, so I just rubbed a pea-sized amount of castor oil between my palms and used that to fluff my hair back into shape. My hair still had alot of body, definition and control. By control, I mean that my hair stayed where I wanted it to when I fluffed it back into shape by pulling under the roots.
First day hair was very defined, had hold and great shine. The smell lasted with me most of the day, and my partner kept complimenting me on the way my hair smelt.
To conclude: The custard and curl activator combination was successful on my coily hair and I would definitely purchase this again. I wouldn't recommend this with a light leave-in conditioner on Coily type 4ab hair, but with a much heavier moisturising leave-in conditioner, as the custard can be quite drying.

Review: Keracare Natural Textures Defining Custard

Price range: £7-£9
Marketing speech:

For Curls & Coils
Aids in getting shiny, well moisturized, clearly defined curls, waves and spirals.
  • Defines curls.
  • Maintains structured coils for days.
  • Minimizes frizz.

Ingredients:Aqueous extracts, Phyllanthus emblica and acacia concinna, glycerin, hydroxyethylcellulose, xanthan gum, pectin, argania spinosa kernel oil, crambe abyssinica seed oil, citric acid, tocopheryl acetate, potassium sorbate, diazolininyl urea, iodopropynyl butylcarbamate, betaine, fragrance, benzyl benzoate, d-Limonene, linalool, methyl ionone gamma
Ingredient Attributes: silicone free, sulfate free, paraben free, protein free

I spotted this in my local Sally's beautyshop looking a tad bit cheaper than it usually was, it was going for about £6, instead of the usual £8-10 price range I had seen it in the past so I grabbed it. I hadn't had much luck with it's siblings: The Hair milk & Buttercreme so I picked this up slightly skeptical.I tried this mixed with some TIGI Love Peace & Planet Leave in conditioner.I liked the ingredients included with Pectin (also in Kinky Curly) and hydroxycellulose being great coil clumpers for me from other products.
Packaging: It comes in a beige jar, with bronze coloured lid that opens easily.
Scent: On opening the jar I was met with a strong but pleasant scent. If you have tried other products in the range   then you would already know the scent as it is identical. Slightly tangy-with-vanilla-and some tropical vagueness tossed in there, quite 'perfumey' and not artificial in my opinion.
Texture:  It was quite slimy, gloopy and mucousy like Kinky-Curly, Original Curling Custard, so it gave some slip but instantly absorbed in and stiffened up.So if you are a 'gel raker' I wouldn't recommend that you try that with this custard. It proved quite dificult to get out of the jar, as it would slip right out of my fingers as soon as I dipped it in. So I got into the habit of just dipping four fingers right down to the bottom of the jar, and whatever was left on my fingers would usually be enough to put on the small section of hair awaiting application.
After application
I LOVED that the custard dried quite quickly. It gave great coil definition and left my coils extremely shiny! It dried with some firmness, but not eco-styler (max = 10 hold) type of firmness.

Update 1:TIGI & KERACARE
The next day, My hair was drier than sand.  I couldn't recommend using this with an ultra-moisturising leave-in enough. Geez! Dafro was not impressed. Water did not work alone with this, so I had to wash it out and try again. At least with Eco-styler, by the second day the glycerin present within Eco really takes effect and softens up the hair as soon as you spray water on it or expose it to shower steam.
I won't write this off just yet till I try it with some good old curl activator - PART 2, it turns out that I got much better results!
